Kwara State Launches 2025 Coding and Digital Literacy Initiative
The Kwara State Government, spearheaded by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is kicking off the 2025 Kwara Coding and Digital Literacy Initiative. This program aims to equip students with essential digital skills. Last year, the 2024 program successfully taught numerous students skills in Project Building, Python, Web Development, and Innovative Thinking across six centers in the three senatorial districts.
This year's initiative is set to expand significantly, reaching 50 public secondary schools and impacting 7,500 students. The primary objective is to prepare young individuals for a technology-driven future. The program will commence in the Kwara Central Senatorial District this week before proceeding to Kwara South and Kwara North.
An official emphasized, “We want our students to be ready for the digital world. This program will provide them with the necessary tools for success.” The courses offered include:
- Web Development
- Python
- Innovation Thinking
- Project Building
The first phase is scheduled to begin on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 2 PM, in three schools within Kwara Central: Government Day Junior Secondary School in Gaa-Akanbi, Ilorin South; GSS, Ilorin East; and GDSS, Adewole, Ilorin West.
Another official stated, “We believe every child should have access to digital education. This program will transform lives.” Governor AbdulRazaq envisions Kwara as a hub where young people can thrive through technology. The government is dedicated to ensuring students are prepared for a technologically dependent world. The program has generated excitement regarding its potential impact on Kwara's future.
