Do YouTube Tags Still Matter in 2025?

I’ve been watching a lot of videos on YouTube SEO lately, and one thing that keeps coming up is this question:
👉 Do YouTube tags even help with ranking anymore?

Some people say they’re completely useless now 🤷‍♂️
Others still use them religiously…

I personally still add tags to every video, especially targeting similar terms around my title and niche keywords — but I’m not sure if it’s doing anything 😅
